PushToReader

Using the PushToReader Firefox Extension

Install the PushToReader Firefox extension and send articles to your Kindle with one click.

The Firefox extension lets you send the article you're reading to your Kindle without leaving the page.

Before you start

To use the extension, you'll need a PushToReader account with your Kindle email configured and your PTR address added to Amazon's approved senders list. See Getting Started and How to Add PushToReader to Your Kindle Approved Senders if you haven't done that yet.

Installation

Mozilla Add-ons listing

The Firefox extension is prepared for Mozilla Add-ons. Replace this placeholder with the final AMO listing URL before publishing public install announcements.

Open Mozilla Add-ons

Visit the PushToReader Firefox extension page on Mozilla Add-ons once the listing is available.

Add to Firefox

Click Add to Firefox, then confirm by clicking Add in the dialog that appears.

Find the extension icon

The PushToReader icon will appear in your browser toolbar. If you don't see it, open the extensions menu in the toolbar and pin PushToReader.

Signing in

Open the extension

Click the PushToReader icon in your toolbar.

Sign in with Google

Click Sign in with Google. The PushToReader login page will open in a new tab.

Complete sign-in

Sign in with your Google account. Once you're done, you'll see a confirmation page. Close that tab and return to the extension, now signed in.

Sending an article

Navigate to an article

Go to any article or web page you'd like to read on your Kindle.

Open the extension

Click the PushToReader icon in your toolbar.

Send to Kindle

Click Send to Kindle. The extension captures the article content and queues it for delivery.

Check your Kindle

Your article will arrive on your Kindle within a few minutes. You can check delivery status in your Library.

Saving an article for later

Instead of sending an article to your Kindle right away, you can save it to your library and add it to a digest later.

Navigate to an article

Go to any article or web page you'd like to save.

Open the extension

Click the PushToReader icon in your toolbar.

Save for Later

Click Save for Later. The article is saved to your library without being delivered to your Kindle.

What's the difference?

Send to Kindle captures the article and delivers it to your Kindle immediately. Save for Later captures the article and adds it to your Library so you can include it in a digest or send it on your own schedule.

Troubleshooting

Common issues

  • Extension icon not appearing. It may be hidden. Open the extensions menu in your toolbar and pin PushToReader.
  • Login issues. Make sure you have an active PushToReader account. If you're redirected to the login page, your session may have expired. Sign in again through the extension.
  • Articles not sending. Check that your Kindle email is saved in Settings and that your PTR address is on Amazon's approved senders list. See How to Add PushToReader to Your Kindle Approved Senders for help.
  • Save for Later not appearing. Make sure you have the latest version of the extension. Update it from Mozilla Add-ons once the listing is available.
